Origin
by single head-from one side of the the body of the palmar surface of metacarpal bones
By two heads; from the adjacent sides the bodies of all metacarpal bones

They are only seen from the palmar aspect of the interosseous space
Dorsal interossei can be seen from both dorsal and palmar aspects
Action
Abduction-Carry the fingers or toes towards the middle line
PAD :
P : palmar interossei
AD : adduction
Abduction; carry the fingers or toes away from the middle line
DAB:
D: dorsal interossei
AB: abduction


Special note
Thumb require no Palmaris interossei thumb already possessing its own powerful adduction by adductor pollicis : one of the thenar muscle
Abduction of Thumb and little finger are done by abductor pollicis brevis of thenar muscle
And abductor digiti minimi of little finger .
Vascular supply
Branch of deep palmar arch,
Pronceps pollicis artery, radialis indicis artery. Palmar metacarpal artery
Proximal and distal perforating arteries and common and proper digital (palmar ) arteries
Dorsal metacarpal a (1st -4th )
Palmar metacarpal a(2nd to 4th )
Radial a (1st),Princeps pollicis a, Radialis indicis a,Three perforating branch from deep palmar arch &three distal perforating branches.The tendons are supply by branch from common &proper palmar digital a and the dorsal digital a
